1. Good attitudes and behaviour

What is our goal?

A group of people communicating in a park together. They are smiling and laughing.

Our attitudes are what we think, feel and believe.

A thought bubble with a disability icon and a thumbs up.

We want the community to have good attitudes and behaviour towards people with disability.

This can help people with disability to:

3 people smiling for a photo. Some of them have disability.
  • take part in the community
A person with disability exercising by lifting weights.
  • be healthy and live well
A person with disability wearing an apron and a hair net for their job.
  • find and keep a job.

What will we do?

A diverse group of people.

We will help our staff and community to celebrate our diverse community.

When something is diverse, it means lots of different people take part in it.

This includes people with different:

A disability icon.
  • abilities
3 people at different ages.
  • ages
A world icon.
  • backgrounds
2 hands held together for prayer.
  • beliefs.

We will also help our staff and community to understand:

A brain icon, a vision impairment icon, and a hearing impairment icon.
  • different types of disability
A person pointing to themself with their other hand raised.
  • the rights of people with disability.
A law document with the scales of justice on it.

Rights are rules about how people must treat you:

  • fairly
  • equally.
A person talking to a group of people from the community. Some of the people have disabilities.

We will work with:

  • people with disability
  • their families and carers.

And we will connect them to groups in the community.

3 people from the community with a thought bubble with a thumbs up in it.

We will also share stories about how our community can work to have good attitudes and behaviour.
