3. Helping people with disability get jobs

What is our goal?

A diverse group of people.

We want our Council to be more diverse.

A work vest and a person with disability shrugging. They have a thought bubble with a problem icon in it.

We know that people with disability can face issues to find and keep a job.

A group of people from the community with their hands raised. Above them is a book and a work vest.

We want to make sure everyone in the Tweed can:

  • learn
  • work.
A stack of money, a health care icon, and a person with their hand raised.

This will support everyone in our community to:

  • earn money
  • be healthy
  • live how they want.

What will we do?

A group of people having a meeting at a table.

We will think about different ways that people with disability can work with the Council.

2 people having a conversation in an office.

To do this, we’ll work with:

  • disability organisations
  • organisations who speak up for people with disability
  • researchers.
An information icon, and a person holding a training session for staff.

We will:

  • share information about Council jobs
  • train our staff.
A worker supporting a person. Above them is a work vest with a magnifying glass.

We will check programs that support people with disability to find and keep a job.

This can improve the way the programs work.

2 people looking at a folder together. Above them is an accessibility icon and an inclusive icon.

And we will also check how inclusive and accessible it is to work for the Council.

This includes:

  • where people work
  • equipment.
